Her I
The Eye by Kathy Sirico
Her I
A woman sat alone in a meadow beneath the skirt of a simple lace wedding dress. The front of the gown was behind her and the train of the back was before her. The bodice had closed in on itself above her head and had disappeared into the waist. The skirt now formed a sort of veil that completely covered her.
Through the blue sky above her flew many vibrant birds that elegantly danced to an unheard symphony. Feathers of red and blue, pink and gray, black and green slowly began to drift like snow through the air. They gently landed on the lacy material around her. The feathers began to layer in an intricate fashion that no hand could mimic.
The colorful blanket draped around the woman to show that she sat with her knees to her chest and her arms around her legs. No feathers stayed upon her crown. Only white was above her head.
The white trailed down from her head to her feet and continued in front of her until it reached the end of the material. The line created the illusion of two faces who wished to kiss. It was beauty she could not see.
As a symbol, she was made from the two, the apple of their eye.
Peacefully comforted by the beauty that rested upon her.
