Stealing the Limelight- A Cautionary Piece
I'll slide around the floor on my belly, looking for your shadow. I'll curl myself around your feet, leeching off of your existence. What more can I do to steal your light?
Become a man in your shadow.
As I grow into my form, I'll run my arms around your body and rest my chin upon your shoulder. I'll knock on your chest and claim that it is hollow. Come slowly to my voice as I whisper and place my fingers against your chin. Turn your head towards me. Can you hear me speaking?
Give in to my desires and let me take your place. My face is not like yours—I can never be like you, but I can steal the gift before you. I can stand twisted on your stage. You need only to give it to me...
Now that you are gone, my sick fantasy continues. I stand warmed in the spotlight, though the world around me is cold and dark. I hear the cheers and soak up the fame.
I am loved.
But the jeers soon filter in, the hatred and the jealousy. The very existence of evil now slithers in the darkness behind me, coming to coil around my feet.
